30-5-2023 (SINGAPORE) Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia revealed their plans on Monday (May 29) to establish a joint venture aimed at enhancing passenger capacity between the two countries. As Southeast Asia’s post-COVID tourism industry gathers momentum, the flag carriers intend to collaborate to meet the growing demand for air travel.
The proposed joint venture is expected to facilitate schedule coordination, resulting in improved connectivity and convenience for passengers. Additionally, both airlines plan to explore various initiatives, such as the introduction of joint fare products and the alignment of corporate programs, to further enhance the travel experience for their customers.
The agreement will primarily focus on routes connecting Singapore with Denpasar, Jakarta, and Surabaya, bolstering the existing cooperation between the two carriers.
Goh Choon Phong, the chief executive officer of Singapore Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm for the joint venture, stating, “This collaboration underlines our unwavering commitment to expanding the aviation markets in both Indonesia and Singapore. By fostering stronger business and people connections, we aim to promote both countries as premier regional tourism destinations.”
