21-5-2023 (MANILA) Several passengers suffered minor injuries when a ferry collided with a cargo vessel on Sunday afternoon, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. local time (0700 GMT) as the ferry was navigating through the Mactan channel near the Mandaue-Mactan bridge, the PCG reported.
The fast craft, carrying 185 individuals, had departed from Ormoc City in Leyte province and was en route to Cebu, the second largest city in the Philippines.
The PCG in Cebu confirmed that all passengers were safely accounted for, although the ferry sustained damage to its front section.
