21-5-2023 (Kuala Lumpur) In a devastating incident, an adult male panther lost its life after colliding with a car in Simpang Pertang, Malaysia, on Saturday afternoon (May 20). The unfortunate event unfolded when a multi-purpose vehicle struck the 40kg animal at approximately 2 p.m. The car’s driver, a 38-year-old man accompanied by his family, was en route from Seremban to Kuala Klawang.
According to Maslan Udin, the district police chief of Jelebu, the panther emerged unexpectedly from the right side of the road as the vehicle was executing a right turn downhill. The driver had no time to react, leading to the tragic collision with the animal.

“As a consequence, the panther managed to traverse approximately 4 meters before succumbing to its injuries in a nearby drain. Fortunately, the man and his family escaped unharmed,” stated the police chief in an official statement.
Following the incident, the panther’s remains were entrusted to the Negeri Sembilan Department of Wildlife Protection and National Parks for further necessary actions. The authorities will handle the situation to ensure proper procedures are followed.
