(Paris) Fans of K-pop powerhouses Blackpink and BTS were sent into a frenzy on Thursday (May 18) following a TikTok video posted by French journalist Amar Taoualit. The video purportedly showed Blackpink’s Jennie and BTS’s V walking hand in hand along the Seine in Paris. Speculation about a romantic relationship between the two superstars has been circulating for over a year, ever since alleged photos of them on a date in Jeju Island surfaced online last year.
Taoualit, in a series of Instagram stories on May 18, disclosed that he had actually filmed the video on Monday evening but decided to release it days later to protect the safety and privacy of the two idols. Since the video’s release, the majority of fans have responded positively to the news, although some have expressed skepticism about its authenticity due to its grainy quality.

However, internet sleuths wasted no time in debunking the doubters’ claims by sharing close-up images of Jennie and V, captured in Taoualit’s video, wearing the same outfits but in different locations throughout Paris.
As of now, both Jennie and V, whose real name is Taehyung, have remained silent in response to the video. When questioned by media outlet Sports Seoul, HYBE and YG Entertainment, the respective agencies representing BTS and Blackpink, commented, “It is difficult to verify [this matter] as it pertains to the artists’ private lives.”
