(Manila) Tragic incident unfolded on Monday, May 15, as a 44-year-old flower vendor, Terese Zuñega, was brutally killed by unidentified attackers near the Carreta Cemetery in Cebu, just a day after Mother’s Day.
Zuñega, known for her flower stall along General Maxilom Avenue near the cemetery in Brgy. Carreta, fell victim to the assailants in a shocking shooting incident around 10 a.m. The swift arrival of medical responders could not save her, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Local authorities from the Mabolo Police Station are actively working to uncover the identities of the suspect(s) involved, whom they believe acted alone in the crime.
Investigating Officer Police Senior Staff Sergeant Leodico Fegi stated that they are delving deeper into Zuñega’s background, particularly given the information that her live-in partner is presently incarcerated in the Cebu City Jail on drug-related charges.
To shed light on the incident, witnesses reported seeing the suspect approach Zuñega from behind while she was attending to her stall on that fateful morning. The attacker launched a surprise attack by striking her from behind before firing two shots.
At present, the motive behind this heinous crime is still under investigation, with the police diligently pursuing all possible leads.
