25-2-2025 (MANILA) A 40-year-old man met his demise following a dramatic pursuit through the streets of Tondo, culminating in a fatal shooting incident early Sunday morning. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning at a local hospital.
CCTV footage captured the harrowing sequence, revealing three assailants initially loitering at a street corner before launching their deadly pursuit. The perpetrator discharged approximately ten rounds at the victim, who had sought refuge in an e-trike following a desperate attempt to escape.
Local authorities have pieced together that the victim had visited a nearby cafeteria moments before the incident, though his presence in the area has raised questions amongst barangay officials, given his residence was reportedly distant from the location.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a barangay official disclosed to GMA Integrated News that neither the victim nor the perpetrators were residents of their jurisdiction. Intriguingly, rumours have surfaced suggesting the victim’s involvement in currency counterfeiting operations, potentially linking to the motivation behind the attack.
Further investigations by GMA Integrated News at the victim’s purported place of residence yielded little clarity, with local officials there similarly unable to confirm his residency status. Family members believed to be related to the deceased have declined to comment on the incident.
The case has left local authorities grappling with several uncertainties. Law enforcement continues their thorough investigation to establish the identities of the assailants and determine the precise motive behind this brutal shooting, whilst the community remains on edge following this display of violence on their streets.
