16-2-2025 (KUALA LUMPUR) A Chinese couple’s Malaysian honeymoon ended in legal trouble after they staged an unusual display at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, allegedly influenced by a “hypnosis game” from a film.
The newlyweds, who appeared before Sepang Magistrates’ Court on Valentine’s Day, admitted to charges of public indecency following their bizarre behaviour at the airport’s Terminal 2 on 9th February.
Court documents revealed that Xu Jianfeng, 28, and his wife Shi Qian, 27, were due to board their return flight to Jieyang, Guangdong, when the incident unfolded. Mr Xu was observed exposing his undergarments near Gate Q15, whilst Mrs Shi later unbuttoned her shirt to reveal her bra in the vicinity of Gate Q5.
The situation escalated when one of the pair became emotionally distressed aboard the aircraft, leading airport security personnel to intervene. The couple were subsequently removed from the flight and handed over to local authorities.
During proceedings, which required an interpreter, the defendants claimed their actions stemmed from attempting to recreate a “hypnosis game” they had seen in a film. They maintained this triggered a temporary loss of emotional and behavioural control.
Both defendants expressed understanding of the charges and entered guilty pleas. The court granted them bail, with the case adjourned until 17th February for further deliberation.
The incident has raised eyebrows among aviation security experts and highlighted the challenges faced by airport staff in managing unusual passenger behaviour. Local authorities have emphasised that such conduct, regardless of motivation, will not be tolerated within airport premises.
