24-1-2025 (SINGAPORE) A former television personality appeared before the Singapore State Courts on Wednesday, facing multiple serious charges including sexual offences involving a minor and harassment.
The accused, whose identity is protected by a court-mandated gag order to safeguard the alleged victim’s identity, faces a total of eight charges. These include six counts of sexually penetrating a minor, one count of harassment, and one count of obstructing the course of justice.
According to court documents, the alleged sexual offences took place at various locations across Singapore, including the accused’s residence, a luxury hotel, and a hospital premises during June 2024. The victim was reportedly 15 years old when the alleged incidents occurred.
Prosecutors allege that in August 2024, the accused attempted to interfere with justice by instructing an alleged victim to demonstrate emotional distress in front of her mother and plead against pressing charges. The defendant is also accused of stalking behaviour, reportedly making 18 phone calls to an individual on 22 September 2024.
Due to extensive redactions in court documents, it remains unclear whether the charges involve one or multiple victims. The court has imposed comprehensive reporting restrictions, prohibiting the publication of the accused’s age, nationality, ethnicity, previous television work, and the specific locations of the alleged offences.
Under Singapore’s legal framework, each count of sexually penetrating a minor carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment. Obstruction of justice can result in up to seven years’ jail and a fine, while harassment charges carry a potential one-year prison term and a fine of up to S$5,000.
The case has been adjourned until 20 February.
