10-1-2025 (TOKYO) A harrowing incident unfolded at one of Tokyo’s prominent educational institutions on Friday when a female student allegedly launched a hammer attack at Hosei University, leaving eight people wounded.
The distressing events took place at approximately 4:00 PM local time at the university’s Tama Campus, situated in the suburban district of Machida. Emergency services rushed to the scene following urgent calls from distressed witnesses.
According to Tokyo Metropolitan Police officials, the suspect, identified as a woman in her twenties and believed to be enrolled at the institution, was quickly apprehended by security personnel. The swift response prevented what could have potentially resulted in more casualties.
Fire Department authorities have confirmed that whilst eight individuals sustained injuries during the attack, none appear to be life-threatening. The victims are receiving medical attention, though details about their identities and specific injuries have not been disclosed.
