7-1-2025 (JAKARTA) The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a thorough search of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto’s residence in East Bekasi on Tuesday, whilst party security maintained a presence outside the premises.
The raid on the two-storey white residence was carried out under heavy security, with both PDI-P’s own Cakra Buana security force and armed police personnel maintaining order around the perimeter. The Cakra Buana officers, distinctively attired in black uniforms and red berets, positioned themselves around the property as KPK investigators worked inside.
KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardika addressed concerns about the security presence, stating that whilst observation was permissible, any interference with the investigation would result in legal consequences. “We welcome security presence provided there is no obstruction of our work. Any attempts to impede the investigation would constitute a violation of Article 21,” Mahardika explained at KPK headquarters in South Jakarta.
The spokesperson expressed confidence in the cooperation of all parties involved, noting that the Cakra Buana team’s presence appeared aimed at maintaining order rather than disrupting proceedings.
Following several hours of investigation, Kristiyanto’s legal representative, Johannes Tobing, revealed that investigators had seized multiple items of interest, including a flash drive and a notebook authored by an individual identified as Kusnadi. Witnesses also observed KPK officers, clearly identifiable in their official vests, departing the premises with a suitcase that was loaded into a black Toyota Innova.
The search is reportedly connected to an ongoing bribery investigation involving the controversial replacement of interim member Harun Masiku. Throughout the operation, the property remained secured, with its main gate and entrance firmly shut. A black Toyota Alphard, registered with the number plate B-1990-KZM, was observed parked within the property’s garage.
KPK officials departed the scene without providing additional comments regarding the nature of the seized materials or the broader implications for their investigation.
