3-1-2025 (KUALA LUMPUR) Two Chinese nationals fell victim to a violent abduction and robbery whilst holidaying in the popular hill resort town of Gohtong Jaya near Genting Highlands.
The horrifying ordeal unfolded at approximately 6:30 PM on 30 December when four men in a BMW targeted the tourists—a 26-year-old man and his 27-year-old female companion—who were taking an evening stroll through the town centre.
According to Bentong District Police Chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, the assailants forcibly dragged both victims towards their vehicle, though the female tourist managed to break free and escape on foot. Her male companion was not as fortunate, being driven away by the perpetrators.
“The perpetrators proceeded to rob the male victim of his cash and coerced him into transferring his savings to one of their bank accounts before abandoning him by the roadside,” Superintendent Zaiham revealed at a press briefing.
Both tourists sustained minor injuries during the assault and received treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital. The incident was reported to local authorities at 7:40 PM, roughly an hour after it occurred.
CCTV footage from nearby establishments, which has since circulated widely on social media platforms, captured the suspects’ black vehicle during the incident. Law enforcement officials are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators.
