29-12-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Residents of Taman Seri Alam in Saujana Utama faced an unexpected crisis on Sunday afternoon when a water retention bund collapsed, triggering localised flooding in the Sungai Buloh residential district.
The incident, which occurred on 29 December, prompted an immediate emergency response from local authorities. According to Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar, Assistant Director of Operations at the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, emergency services were alerted to the situation at 5.15pm through a call to the Saujana Utama Volunteer Fire Brigade.
“Our rapid response team, comprising five firefighters, arrived to find floodwaters reaching approximately 30.5 centimetres in depth throughout the affected area,” Mokhtar told reporters. “We immediately initiated evacuation procedures in coordination with our volunteer brigade colleagues.”
