25-12-2024 (BANGKOK) A horrific domestic incident has claimed the life of a 46-year-old woman in Thailand’s Ayutthaya province, where she was found shot dead in her bedroom still clutching tissues, police reported yesterday.
The victim, identified as Ms Jittra, was discovered by her son when he returned home around midnight on Christmas Eve. She had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the right side of her head, with authorities estimating she had been dead for several hours before the discovery.
Police investigators, led by Lieutenant Colonel Sakrin Rattanaphan, found a 9mm bullet casing at the scene. CCTV footage from a neighbouring property captured the sound of gunfire at approximately 7:45 PM, helping investigators establish the time of the incident.
The prime suspect is the victim’s husband of five years, 51-year-old Wasan, who had allegedly telephoned his stepdaughter’s husband earlier that evening, making the chilling announcement that he had killed her mother. The call was initially dismissed as an empty threat.
In a statement to police, the victim’s daughter, Nisachon, 31, revealed a disturbing pattern of domestic discord leading up to the murder. The suspect had reportedly been consumed by jealousy, making unfounded accusations about an inappropriate relationship between his wife and his son-in-law.
“The situation had become increasingly volatile,” said Nisachon. “Just two days before the shooting, my mother had expelled him from the house following a violent confrontation.”
The victim’s 24-year-old son, Ekkanat, told investigators that while arguments between the couple were common, he never imagined they would end in such tragedy. “Their disputes were always about jealousy, but we never thought it would come to this,” he said.
Family members have expressed fear for their safety, as the suspect allegedly threatened to kill the entire family. Police have launched a manhunt for Wasan, who fled the scene, leaving his motorcycle behind at the residence.
