19-12-2024 (BANGKOK) Thai law enforcement officials apprehended a woman who allegedly produced and distributed explicit content in public spaces, including a controversial video during the sacred Loi Krathong festival.
Leading the operation was Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwpaen, Acting Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division, alongside senior officers Pol. Maj. Gen. Wiwat Khamchamnan and Pol. Maj. Gen. Jitthipan Phonphrueksa.
The suspect, identified only as Sasithorn, 32, from Samut Songkhram Province, was arrested at her residence in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district. The arrest followed an extensive investigation into explicit videos circulating on social media, including footage of the suspect engaging in inappropriate behaviour on public roads during daylight hours.
According to police reports, Sasithorn had been operating an OnlyFans account for four years, charging subscribers 499 baht for basic membership and 1,500 baht for exclusive live content. Her monthly earnings reportedly averaged 50,000 baht.
The investigation was sparked by a particularly controversial video titled “Happy Loi Krathong Day”, which showed the suspect participating in the traditional festival in an inappropriate manner. The video’s circulation caused significant public outrage due to its disrespect of Thai cultural traditions.
“Our investigation team conducted thorough surveillance, including undercover operations through the Line application, before securing a court warrant,” a division spokesperson said.
During the raid, authorities seized electronic devices containing substantial evidence, including a mobile phone and computer with numerous explicit video files intended for online distribution.
Sasithorn faces charges under Section 14(4) of the Computer Act for importing obscene material into a computer system accessible to the public, which carries a maximum sentence of five years’ imprisonment and/or a fine up to 100,000 baht. Additional charges under Section 287 of the Criminal Code relating to the distribution of obscene materials are also being pursued.
