12-12-2024 (BALI) A 27-year-old Polish national was discovered deceased in her hotel room in northern Bali on Wednesday morning, local authorities have confirmed.
Karolina Maria Krzyzak was found unresponsive at the Madia Sweet Hotel in Sumberkima Village, Gerokgak District, after concerned friends were unable to reach her. Police spokesperson AKP Gede Darma Diatmika revealed that hotel staff made the discovery at approximately 9:30 AM local time.
The incident came to light when Ms Krzyzak’s companion, Resyt Joy, grew worried after repeated unsuccessful attempts to contact her. Joy subsequently requested hotel personnel to check on her friend’s welfare in room number 4.
“Upon entering the room, staff members found the deceased lying supine on the floor,” Diatmika told reporters at a press briefing on Thursday. The hotel management promptly alerted local law enforcement following the discovery.
Initial medical examinations suggest the tourist’s death may have resulted from head trauma sustained in an accidental fall within the room. Investigators noted the absence of any signs of violence or foul play on the victim’s body. Sources close to the investigation also indicated that Ms Krzyzak had pre-existing medical conditions which may have contributed to the incident.
The deceased has been transferred to Buleleng Regional General Hospital for further examination. Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, whilst working with the Polish embassy to notify next of kin.
