4-12-2024 (SINGAPORE) Two unexpected visitors caused quite a commotion at Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 2 on Tuesday when a pair of monkeys were spotted roaming the premises, leading to some rather unusual customer service scenarios that have since gone viral on social media.
The primates, captured in various TikTok videos, were seen exploring different areas of the terminal, including the check-in counters and staircase railings. Airport staff demonstrated remarkable adaptability in their attempts to manage these unconventional guests, employing methods ranging from traditional deterrents to surprisingly courteous guidance.
In one particularly noteworthy incident, a female staff member won praise from social media users for her professional approach to the situation. Rather than attempting to frighten the monkey away, she opted for a more diplomatic solution, politely gesturing and guiding one of the primates towards the exit as though it were a regular passenger. The monkey, remarkably, appeared to respond to her directional cues, though requiring occasional redirection when straying from the intended path.
The incident sparked amusement online, with netizens particularly impressed by the staff’s maintaining of Changi’s renowned service standards even when dealing with simian visitors. “This exemplifies true customer service – treating all visitors with respect, whether human or animal,” remarked one social media user.
Other airport personnel were observed using more conventional methods to manage the situation, including attempts to redirect the monkeys using cleaning equipment and signboards, though with varying degrees of success. One particularly determined monkey was filmed sitting stubbornly near the check-in counters, refusing to be moved despite the presence of a broom-wielding staff member.
