19-11-2024 (BANGKOK) A tragic incident unfolded at the popular Terminal 21 shopping centre in Nakhon Ratchasima yesterday when an unidentified foreign visitor lost his life after falling from the fourth floor of the complex.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:25 PM local time, sending shockwaves through the bustling retail establishment. Witnesses reported seeing the man, estimated to be between 50 and 60 years of age, plummet from the upper level, landing in a central area near the escalators.
Emergency response teams, including the mall’s security personnel and on-site medical unit, rushed to provide immediate assistance. However, despite their swift response, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Medical experts from Maharat Nakhon Ratchasima Hospital, who conducted the initial examination, detailed the extent of the injuries. “The deceased suffered multiple compound fractures to his extremities, severe cranial trauma, and extensive bleeding from various impact wounds”, a hospital spokesperson revealed.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to establish the man’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident. “We are working closely with diplomatic missions to identify the deceased and notify next of kind”, said Police Colonel Somchai Thaikul, leading the investigation.
The incident has prompted Terminal 21 management to review their safety protocols. The mall remained operational, though the affected area was cordoned off as investigators gathered evidence.
