18-11-2024 (BANDUNG) West Java Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into a bomb threat targeting Parahyangan Catholic University’s (Unpar) graduation ceremonies, prompting heightened security measures across the campus.
Senior Commissioner Jules Abraham Abast, spokesperson for the West Java Regional Police, confirmed that the threat arrived in the form of a terror letter flyer prior to the scheduled graduation events between November 15-17. The prestigious institution, located in Bandung, immediately alerted authorities upon receiving the threatening communication.
In response to the situation, the police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (Jihandak) team conducted a thorough sweep of the university grounds. While initial searches revealed no evidence of explosive devices, authorities are maintaining vigilant security protocols throughout the graduation period.
“We have deployed 100 officers to ensure the safety of all attendees during the ceremonies,” Senior Commissioner Abast stated. He added that investigators are working diligently to identify those responsible for issuing the threat.
