18-11-2024 (JAKARTA) Indonesia’s newly-inaugurated President Prabowo Subianto has outlined his administration’s primary focus on domestic economic development, whilst leveraging international forums to strengthen global economic ties.
Speaking at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, President Prabowo emphasised that his initial months and first year in office would be dedicated to revitalising Indonesia’s domestic economy. The statement came during his attendance at the G20 Summit, one of several high-profile international engagements following his inauguration.
The President’s packed diplomatic schedule includes the APEC Summit in Peru, with strategic stops in China and the United States for bilateral economic discussions. Taking advantage of these international gatherings, Prabowo has embarked on a comprehensive diplomatic tour aimed at securing foreign investment and strengthening economic partnerships.
Following the G20 Summit, the Indonesian leader is scheduled to visit the United Kingdom for economic talks, with a particular focus on attracting British investment to Indonesia. “We’re exploring possibilities to attract investment during these meetings,” Prabowo stated during the press briefing.
The President also revealed plans for potential visits to several Middle Eastern nations, although he expressed a desire to return to Indonesia promptly to focus on domestic affairs. “We’re looking at possible stops in the Middle East, depending on scheduling, but my priority is to return home as soon as feasible,” he explained.
