14-11-2024 (JAKARTA) Operations at Lombok International Airport have returned to normal following temporary disruptions caused by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Nusa Tenggara, airport officials confirmed Thursday.
“We are pleased to announce the resumption of normal operations at Lombok Airport,” said Public Relations Officer Arif Haryanto, speaking from Central Lombok. All domestic and international routes have been reinstated, with flights expected to proceed according to schedule.
The airport had previously suspended six international flights on Wednesday due to safety concerns over volcanic ash dispersion from Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki’s eruption. Airport General Manager Singgih Riwahono had confirmed the cancellations were necessary to ensure passenger safety.
However, Haryanto cautioned that the situation remains dependent on wind conditions and volcanic activity. “While operations have resumed, we continue to monitor the situation closely as conditions could change based on wind patterns or further volcanic activity,” he explained.
Passengers are strongly advised to verify their flight status through their respective airline’s call centres. “We recommend all travellers maintain contact with their airlines to receive the most current information regarding their flights,” Haryanto added.
