14-11-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A 21-year-old woman lost her life yesterday morning in a devastating accident when a shipping container toppled from a lorry and crushed her vehicle at a traffic junction in Bukit Tengah.
Lee Zi Rou was stationary at the traffic lights at the intersection of Jalan Kebun Sireh and Jalan Bukit Tengah when the incident occurred at approximately 9:15 am. According to witnesses, the tragedy unfolded when a trailer lorry attempted a sharp left turn from the opposite direction, causing its container to become unbalanced and detach.
The young victim, who was en route to her workplace, was pronounced dead at the scene. The impact of the falling container completely crushed her vehicle, leaving no chance of survival.
The accident caused significant disruption to local traffic, as the container and vehicle debris blocked both carriageways. Several other vehicles were caught in the incident, with one driver, 25-year-old Tan Chou Theng, sustaining injuries. Good Samaritans at the scene helped rescue Tan, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
