11-11-2024 (JAKARTA) International pop sensation Dua Lipa was forced to cancel her highly anticipated Jakarta concert mere hours before the scheduled performance, citing critical safety concerns with the venue’s staging infrastructure at the Indonesia Arena.
The British-Albanian singer, currently headlining Glastonbury and in the midst of her Asian tour, made the announcement via social media on Friday evening, expressing her devastation at having to disappoint her Indonesian fans. Despite being present in Jakarta, the 29-year-old artist explained that safety assessments had deemed the performance too risky to proceed at the 16,500-capacity venue.
“I am here in your amazing country and ready to perform,” Lipa stated, describing herself as “gutted” by the last-minute cancellation. The concert would have marked her return to Jakarta after a significant absence from Indonesia’s capital.
The cancellation impacts Southeast Asia’s largest nation, as the tour will now proceed directly to other Asian destinations including the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand. The artist had just completed a successful show in Singapore before the Jakarta date.
Lipa concluded her announcement with a promise to return, expressing her eagerness to reconnect with her Indonesian fanbase “as soon as possible.”
