7-11-2024 (BANGKOK) Police in the Thai resort city of Pattaya intervened in a heated confrontation between two groups of Uzbekistani nationals on Tuesday night, highlighting ongoing tensions in the popular tourist destination’s beach areas.
The incident, which occurred near Soi 13/4 at approximately 11:46 PM, drew significant attention from concerned onlookers and required immediate police response. Officers arriving at the scene found two groups engaged in a loud dispute, with several individuals having sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
A local beach vendor, identified as Kiranuwat, 42, provided context to the situation, explaining that the dispute arose from territorial disagreements between established workers and newcomers in the area. The confrontation escalated when attempts at negotiation through intermediaries failed.
During the intervention, law enforcement faced some resistance, with one male individual requiring physical restraint before being taken into custody. Foreign tourists in the vicinity were reportedly distressed by the public disturbance.
At the police station, both parties reached an amicable resolution, choosing to settle their differences without pursuing formal complaints. Following documentation and photograph taking for police records, all individuals were released without charges.
