30-10-2024 (JAKARTA) Metropolitan police are investigating a horrific murder case after the dismembered body of a 40-year-old woman was discovered in North Jakarta’s Muara Baru Lake, near the Pluit residential area. The victim, identified only as SH, was found wrapped in sacks, blankets, and cardboard, with her head separated from the body.
Detective Chief Superintendent Rovan Richard Mahenu of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate announced that authorities are meticulously reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area and gathering witness statements to track down the perpetrator.
“We are leaving no stone unturned in our investigation,” stated Mahenu during a press conference on Wednesday. “Every piece of evidence is being carefully examined to bring the perpetrator to justice swiftly.”
The grim discovery was made on Tuesday morning at approximately 10:00 local time. The victim’s remains were subsequently transported to the National Police Hospital for forensic examination, where experts successfully identified the deceased.
Senior Commissioner Ade Wira Satya Triputra, Director of Criminal Investigation, confirmed that the victim was a housewife from Banten province. The identification was completed at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta through detailed forensic analysis.
Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi assured the public that the investigation is proceeding with urgency, given the brutal nature of the crime. The case has shocked local residents and highlighted concerns about security in the area.
