25-10-2024 (HONG KONG) Hong Kong Customs officials have thwarted a sophisticated drug smuggling attempt at Chek Lap Kok International Airport, intercepting a substantial quantity of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of HK$2.2 million.
The operation, which took place during routine customs screening, led to the arrest of a 29-year-old Malaysian woman who had just landed on a flight from Penang. Officers discovered approximately four kilogrammes of suspected methamphetamine ingeniously hidden within a specially modified compartment in her checked baggage.
