24-10-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A disturbing incident unfolded at a secondary school in Taman Bintang, Manjung, when a mentally unstable man drove his vehicle into the school grounds and struck a 13-year-old student, leaving her injured.
The harrowing event occurred at approximately 5:30pm on Wednesday when the 47-year-old suspect, driving a white vehicle, initially crashed through the basketball court’s gate before proceeding towards the main school building, according to Manjung OCPD Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Abd Rahman.
The situation escalated when the driver targeted the school hall where students were engaged in volleyball practice. One female student was struck by the vehicle, sustaining injuries to her left leg. She was promptly transported to Seri Manjung Hospital for medical attention.
Law enforcement successfully apprehended the unemployed suspect within an hour of the incident. “The individual was taken into custody at approximately 6:30pm and has been referred for medical evaluation due to his apparent mental health condition,” ACP Hasbullah stated.
The case has been classified as attempted murder under Section 307 of the Penal Code, reflecting the serious nature of the incident.
