10-9-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Local authorities have confirmed the discovery of human remains within a flat in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. The grim finding, which occurred on 5 September, has sent shockwaves through the community and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the deceased’s passing.
Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari, the Sentul District Police Chief, revealed that the skeletal remains belonged to a 79-year-old retired local man. The discovery came to light when the victim’s child visited the residence, hoping to reconnect with their father after a prolonged period of separation.
“Upon arrival at the flat, the complainant found the door locked,” AC Ahmad Sukarno explained in a statement. “After forcibly entering the premises, they were horrified to discover their father had passed away, with only his skeleton remaining.”
Initial investigations suggest that the deceased had been living alone following a divorce from his spouse. The last known contact between the complainant and their father dates back to 2020, leaving authorities uncertain about the exact timeframe of the man’s demise.
“We are unable to determine precisely how long the gentleman had been deceased,” AC Ahmad Sukarno stated. “The skeletal remains have been released to the family for further arrangements.”
Medical records indicate that the deceased had a history of high blood pressure and had previously suffered a stroke, potentially shedding light on the cause of death. Given the circumstances, authorities have classified the case as a sudden death.
