28-8-2024 (QUEZON CITY) Heavy downpours that persisted from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning have led to significant flooding in various parts of Quezon City, causing disruptions to traffic and daily life in the Philippine capital.
The continuous rainfall, which began on Tuesday evening and continued into the early hours of Wednesday, resulted in flood waters ranging from gutter-deep to knee-deep in several key areas of the city. The Quezon City government reported that by 4 am, floodwaters had inundated parts of Biak-na-bato, Quezon Avenue, NS Amoranto, and Maria Clara.
Particularly affected was the Sto. Domingo area, where knee-deep floods prevented vehicles from passing through shortly after midnight. However, as of Wednesday morning, flood waters in these areas had receded, and roads were once again passable to all types of vehicles.
Local authorities have urged residents, especially those in low-lying areas, to remain vigilant and prepared for potential flooding as intermittent rains continue to affect the region.
The adverse weather conditions have led to the suspension of classes across various cities in the National Capital Region (NCR), as local governments prioritise the safety of students and school staff.
