22-8-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A horrific incident at a palm oil processing plant in Jenjarom, Selangor, has resulted in the death of a 34-year-old factory worker in a gruesome industrial accident. The tragedy, which occurred on Tuesday evening, has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious questions about workplace safety in the region.
According to Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor, the alarm was first raised when the mill manager was unable to locate the worker during a routine check. The manager promptly contacted the authorities at approximately 9:15 pm, initiating an urgent investigation into the employee’s whereabouts.
Colleagues of the deceased reported last seeing him return from a break at approximately 1:50 pm. However, when another worker returned from their own break at 2:30 pm, they noticed the victim was nowhere to be found, despite the palm oil processing machine he had been operating continuing to run unattended.
As concern grew, a thorough search of the premises was conducted. The grim discovery was made at 5:57 pm when searchers found a shoe, torn clothing, and human bone fragments at the end of the conveyor belt. These items are believed to belong to the missing worker.
Authorities suspect that the victim accidentally fell into the running machinery, where he was tragically pulled in and fatally injured. The exact circumstances leading to this catastrophic event remain under investigation.
In a heartbreaking detail, it has emerged that the deceased had only been employed at the factory for eight days prior to the incident. This fact has added an extra layer of tragedy to an already devastating situation.
The case has been initially classified as a sudden death, with the victim’s remains transferred to Banting Hospital’s forensic unit for further examination and autopsy.
