21-8-2024 (BANGKOK) A Thai man experienced a shocking encounter with nature in the most unexpected of places – his own toilet. The man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, took to social media to recount his harrowing experience of being bitten on the testicles by a snake that had made its way into his toilet bowl.
The incident, which occurred on 19 August, serves as a stark reminder of the unexpected dangers that can arise during Thailand’s rainy season, when wildlife often seeks shelter in unusual places.
According to the victim’s Facebook post, the ordeal began at approximately 10 am when he visited the toilet “to do my business as usual”. Despite his habitual precaution of flushing before use to ensure cleanliness and safety, the man was caught completely off guard when he felt a sharp sting upon sitting down.
In a moment of sheer panic and pain, the man instinctively grabbed at the source of his discomfort, only to find himself grasping the neck of a large snake. The reptile, having sunk its fangs into the man’s testicles, refused to let go easily.
Fuelled by a surge of adrenaline, the victim managed to wrench the snake away from his body. However, the struggle was far from over. “I couldn’t pull it out no matter how hard I pulled,” he recounted, describing the snake’s tenacious grip on the toilet bowl.
In a desperate bid to end the encounter, the man seized a nearby toilet brush and began furiously striking the serpent. “I was both shocked and angry,” he admitted, describing how he continued his assault until the snake ceased movement.
Once the immediate threat had passed, the victim sought medical attention, enlisting a neighbour to transport him to the nearest hospital. Fortunately, the snake was found to be non-venomous, limiting the medical concerns to the bite wound itself.
In a twist of good fortune amidst the ordeal, medical professionals assured the man that his testicles would make a full recovery.
This bizarre incident serves as a cautionary tale for residents in areas prone to wildlife intrusions, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. The victim himself emphasised the importance of vigilance, using his experience to warn others about the potential for unexpected animal encounters during Thailand’s rainy season.
