21-8-2024 (MANILA) Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo has been gifted a lavish three-bedroom condominium following his historic double gold medal win at the recently concluded Paris Olympics.
The 24-year-old athlete etched his name in Philippine sporting history by clinching gold in both the Men’s floor and Men’s vault categories, becoming only the second Filipino to secure an Olympic gold medal.
To commemorate his outstanding achievement, real estate giant Megaworld Corporation has presented Yulo with a sumptuous flat valued at 35 million pesos (approximately $809,622) in the upscale McKinley Hill township of Taguig City, Metro Manila.
The 100-square-metre property, situated within an exclusive gated community, has been meticulously designed to celebrate Yulo’s Olympic success. The interior boasts specially curated gold embellishments, including ornate lighting fixtures and wall decor, all set against a minimalist backdrop enhanced by warm lighting.
Lourdes T. Gutierrez-Alfonso, President of Megaworld, told The Manila Times, “Every aspect of Carlos’ flat was intentionally designed. We customised the entire space based on his personality, and I’m immensely proud of our design team’s transformation.”
Perhaps the most striking feature of the flat is a bespoke side table – a magnified version of an Olympic medal mounted atop a terrazzo base. The walls are adorned with framed news clippings chronicling Yulo’s historic feat, serving as a constant reminder of his Olympic glory.
The property comes fully equipped with modern amenities, including four smart televisions, a gaming console, and a coveted parking space in the bustling township.
This generous gift is not the only reward bestowed upon Yulo for his Olympic success. Reports indicate that the Philippine government has pledged a substantial sum of 20 million pesos (S$462,570) reward to the gymnast.
