16-8-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) 2 men known to each other were brutally attacked by five machete-wielding assailants at two different locations approximately 2.7 kilometres apart. The attacks, which occurred within a short time frame of each other, left both men with severe injuries to their heads and bodies. Tragically, one of the victims was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
Assistant Commissioner Wan Azhar, the head of the Kuala Muda District Police, stated that the police post at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital in Sungai Petani received a report at around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday. Hospital staff alerted the authorities after two men in their 30s, both suffering from deep slash wounds to their heads and bodies, were brought to the emergency department’s red zone. Unfortunately, one of the men succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
The deceased, a local car wash worker, and the injured man, who works as a security guard, were reportedly acquainted. According to preliminary investigations, the first incident occurred near a junction leading to Kampung toh pawang. The injured security guard was on duty at the location with a friend when the five attackers suddenly appeared and set upon him with machetes, leaving him with grievous injuries to his chest, right hand, and right leg. His friend managed to flee the scene.
The assailants then moved to the second location, approximately 2.7 kilometres away, at a car wash in Taman Bedong. Here, they attacked the second victim, who later died from his injuries.
Both men were transported to the hospital by a friend, but one was declared dead on arrival. Police immediately deployed a forensic team to the crime scenes to gather evidence.
At the first crime scene, investigators observed two closed deck chairs, one of which was stained with a significant amount of blood. Bloodstains were also found on the nearby muddy ground. At the second location, traces of blood were visible on the tarmac.
Wan Azhar confirmed that the police are still investigating the motives behind the two incidents. The cases are being treated as murder and causing grievous harm with dangerous weapons, under Sections 302 and 326 of the Penal Code, respectively.
So far, three suspects have been arrested in connection with these brutal attacks.
