14-8-2024 (TAIPEI) Popular Taiwanese television personality Mickey Huang has been confronted with further allegations of possessing indecent materials involving minors. The Taipei District Court, during a private session on Monday, 12 August, heard evidence from prosecutors suggesting Huang had explicit images of 41 underage individuals in his possession.
This latest development comes on the heels of previous charges levelled against Huang in May, when he was accused of breaching Taiwan’s Child And Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act. The initial charges stemmed from a police raid on his residence, prompted by sexual harassment claims from two women. During this search, law enforcement uncovered pornographic content on Huang’s hard drive, including disturbing materials featuring seven minors, some as young as 11 years old.
Further investigations have unearthed troubling information about Huang’s online activities. Reports indicate that in 2014, the TV host became involved with an internet forum dedicated to sharing images of child sexual abuse. It is alleged that Huang not only participated in this forum but also purchased content from the site.
In response to the initial charges, Huang attempted to mount a legal defence by arguing that the videos in question were acquired prior to recent amendments to the Child And Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act. These amendments introduced more severe penalties for offenders. However, this argument appears to have been undermined by the latest revelations.
