7-8-2024 (SINGAPORE) Actress Emma Watson is set to make her way to Singapore for a prestigious legal and technology conference. The British actress, best known for her portrayal of Hermione Granger in the globally acclaimed Harry Potter film series, will be a keynote speaker at the upcoming TechLaw.Fest 2024.
The two-day event, scheduled for 11 and 12 September, will unfold at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, nestled within the iconic Marina Bay Sands complex. Organised jointly by the Singapore Academy of Law and the Ministry of Law, this annual gathering has become a cornerstone for discussions on the intricate relationship between technology, law, and governance.
Watson, now 34, will share the stage with her father, Chris Watson, a distinguished figure in the legal world. The elder Watson serves as a partner and global chair in telecommunications, media and communications at the international law firm CMS. Together, they will delve into the crucial topics of diversity and inclusion, bringing a unique father-daughter perspective to these pressing issues.
The event promises a stellar lineup of speakers from various fields. Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, will kick off proceedings on the first day. He will participate in a panel discussion alongside Justice Aedit Abdullah and Mike Yeh, Microsoft Asia’s corporate external and legal affairs regional vice president.
Other notable participants include Dr Ong Chen Hui, assistant chief executive of the Business and Technology Group at Infocomm and Media Development Authority, and Inch Chua, a homegrown Singaporean singer-songwriter.
