30-7-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) Local authorities have questioned the father of a 12-year-old boy who was caught on camera driving a car with two younger children as passengers. The event, which occurred last Sunday evening, has raised serious concerns about child safety and parental supervision in the community.
Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof confirmed that the 35-year-old father, who owns the vehicle involved in the incident, presented himself at the Sepang district police station late yesterday evening. The man’s voluntary appearance came after police identified him as the car’s registered owner.

According to initial investigations, the young driver had taken his two siblings, aged four and six, for an unauthorised spin in a Perodua Viva around their residential area at approximately 8pm on the day in question. The alarming scene was captured on video by a concerned member of the public, who confronted the underage driver and threatened to report the incident to the authorities.
The footage, which quickly went viral on social media platforms, shows the car navigating a speed bump before being halted by the vigilant bystander. The video has sparked a heated debate about child safety and parental responsibility within the community and beyond.
Wan Kamarul stated that the case is currently under investigation in accordance with Section 39(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. This legislation pertains to the offence of allowing an unlicensed person to drive a motor vehicle, which carries significant penalties for adults who enable such behaviour.
