23-7-2024 (SINGAPORE) In the early hours of July 23, a dramatic scene unfolded in the Seletar area as a raging fire broke out at a warehouse, prompting a swift and extensive response from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). Approximately 50 firefighters were dispatched to combat the blaze, which engulfed a single-storey warehouse located at 21 Seletar West Farmway 1.
The SCDF received the initial alert about the fire at around 2.35 a.m., setting in motion a coordinated effort to contain the inferno. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters encountered a warehouse measuring approximately 30 meters by 20 meters, which housed an office and scaffolding materials.
Undeterred by the intensity of the flames, the SCDF personnel swiftly deployed three water jets and an unmanned firefighting machine, supported by a fleet of ten emergency vehicles. The battle against the blaze raged on for nearly two hours, with firefighters working tirelessly to extinguish the fire and prevent further spread.
Despite the challenging conditions, the SCDF’s efforts ultimately proved successful, as the flames were brought under control and doused, leaving behind a scene of smoldering debris and charred remnants of the warehouse. In the aftermath of the incident, no injuries were reported, a testament to the professionalism and swift action of the emergency responders.
As a precautionary measure, the SCDF initiated a comprehensive damping down process, meticulously applying water to wet the burnt surfaces and ensuring that any deep-seated embers were fully extinguished, eliminating the risk of the fire reigniting.
While the fire has been contained and the immediate threat mitigated, the cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the authorities.
