16-7-2024 (BANGKOK)Â In a spectacular finale held at The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi, Suchata “Opal” Chuangsri has been crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2024, earning the prestigious honor to represent her nation at the highly anticipated Miss Universe 2024 pageant in Mexico later this year.
The lavish event kicked off with a grand opening show featuring all 40 contestants, setting the stage for an evening of glamour and anticipation. As the night unfolded, Opal, representing Bangkok, emerged victorious, receiving the coveted Starlight Crown from Mouawad, along with a sash, a bouquet from Floedesign, and various other prizes.
The first runner-up position went to Surisa “Suri” Susanna Renaud, representing Phuket, while Kanruthai “Muk” Thasabut from Ubon Ratchathani claimed the third-place spot, and Boonyisa Chantrarachai, representing Maha Sarakham, secured the fourth position.
For Opal, this remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in her pageant journey. She first competed in Miss Universe Thailand 2022, where she finished as the third runner-up, later being promoted to the second runner-up position after the initial first runner-up relinquished her title.
Born on March 20, 2003, in Phuket, where her parents run the Homeplace Hotel in the old town, Opal is a trilingual talent, fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese. Her academic journey began at Triam Udom Suksa School, where she focused on the Chinese language, and she is currently pursuing a degree in Political Science, majoring in International Relations at the prestigious Thammasat University.
Opal’s dedication to her pursuits is matched by her resilience in the face of adversity. At the tender age of 16, she faced a health scare when she was diagnosed with a 10cm lump in her breast, prompting her to undergo surgery to remove the non-cancerous mass. This challenging experience proved to be a turning point for Opal, inspiring her to participate in beauty pageants as a platform to raise awareness about breast cancer, the leading threat to women’s health worldwide.
