10-7-2024 (BANGKOK) A distressing video showcasing the brutal bullying of a special needs student by two classmates at a Bangkok secondary school has ignited widespread concern across Thailand. The incident, which occurred recently, has prompted immediate action from school authorities and law enforcement.
The footage, which has rapidly spread across social media platforms, depicts a harrowing scene involving three second-year students. Two girls are seen subjecting their classmate, who has special needs, to a series of violent acts that have left viewers deeply troubled.
In the video, the victim is forced into a submissive posture on the floor before her aggressors. What follows is a shocking display of physical abuse, including kicks to the chin, forceful slaps, and the victim being slammed to the ground by her hair. Perhaps most alarming is the moment when one bully repeatedly bashes the victim’s head against the floor, stopping only when warned about potential skull fracture.
The assault continues with further slaps and verbal threats, leaving the victim visibly distressed. Photos circulating alongside the video reveal the physical toll of the attack, with the victim suffering visible abrasions to her face and chin.
Upon learning of the incident, the victim’s family promptly filed a police report on 10 July. They expressed bewilderment at the attack, stating that their daughter had no prior conflicts with her assailants.
The school administration has responded swiftly to the incident. Both perpetrators have been suspended for five days, and their parents have been called in for discussions. In an innovative approach to rehabilitation, the school has mandated that the bullies undertake community service at a local hospital. This measure aims to provide the girls with first-hand experience in caring for victims of violence, hopefully fostering empathy and understanding.
