10-7-2024 (SINGAPORE) Miss Universe Singapore (MUS) is embracing inclusivity for its 2024 edition, allowing a broader range of contestants to vie for the coveted national title. In a departure from previous years, the annual beauty pageant is now open to Singapore citizens who are married, divorced, or have children, with no upper age limit imposed.
The move comes as the Miss Universe Organization, which oversees the global competition, officially removed the upper age restriction starting from 2024. However, contestants must be at least 18 years old, based in Singapore, and have been residing in the country for a minimum of six months prior to September 1, 2024.
In contrast, the MUS 2023 pageant was open exclusively to single women aged between 18 and 28 who had never been married. Additionally, a minimum height requirement of 1.68 meters has been introduced for the 2024 edition, a criterion that was absent in the previous year.

MUS 2024 is a joint endeavor between Beyond Entity, a Malaysian company with over a decade of experience in pageantry, and King Kong Media Production, the regional entertainment company helmed by renowned Singaporean actor Mark Lee.
The winner of MUS 2024 will receive a cash prize of $10,000 and the extraordinary opportunity to represent Singapore on the international stage at Miss Universe 2024, slated to take place in Mexico in September.
Elaine Daly, the national director of MUS and the former Miss Universe Malaysia 2003, emphasizes the pageant’s broader significance, stating: “This competition is more than just a crown. It’s a platform to inspire and advocate for causes close to your heart.”
Echoing Daly’s sentiments, Mark Lee highlights the potential for participants to explore careers in the entertainment industry, adding: “We are seeking not just beauty queens but future actresses as well, following in the footsteps of many renowned actresses who began their journeys as beauty queens.”
Indeed, several MUS alumni have successfully transitioned into acting careers, including Mediacorp actresses Cheryl Chou, who won MUS in 2016, and Rebecca Lim, who was crowned Miss Photogenic and placed in the Top 5 of MUS 2005.
The reigning MUS 2023 title holder is Priyanka Annuncia, an entrepreneur, while Nicaragua’s Sheynnis Palacios was crowned Miss Universe 2023 at the pageant held in El Salvador in November 2023.
