3-7-2024 (MANILA) An alleged incident of street harassment in Quezon City escalated into a shooting, leaving one person injured on Tuesday night. The shocking incident has prompted a thorough investigation by local authorities as they seek to unravel the circumstances surrounding the violent altercation.
According to the account provided by the driver to the police, the incident unfolded after their vehicle collided with a pickup truck on the side of Welcome Rotonda, causing damage to their side mirror. The driver, accompanied by four relatives, claimed they were traveling from España Boulevard when the collision occurred.
In the aftermath of the collision, the driver allegedly pursued and stopped the pickup truck near Banawe. In an attempt to document the incident, he reportedly took a picture of the other vehicle. However, the situation took a violent turn when the pickup truck suddenly sped away.
Determined to assess the extent of the damage to their own vehicle, the driver and his companions exited their car. It was at this moment that the pickup truck unexpectedly returned, and one of its occupants opened fire on their vehicle, striking one of the companions in the leg.
Immediately after the shooting, the pickup truck fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of fear and confusion. The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a spent bullet from the incident site, which will serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigation.
While the Galas Police Station initially declined to provide further details about the incident, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation, the driver refrained from addressing the media, potentially to avoid compromising the case.
In a proactive move, the police have obtained CCTV footage from Barangay Doña Josefa, which covers the crime scene. This footage will be instrumental in backtracking the events leading up to and following the shooting, potentially shedding light on the identities and motives of the perpetrators.
