1-7-2024 (BANGKOK) A naked homeless man was apprehended by authorities after causing a commotion on the streets of Central Pattaya. The unsettling episode highlights the ongoing issue of homelessness and mental health challenges faced by some individuals in the city, casting a spotlight on a problem that continues to tarnish Pattaya’s image as a popular tourist destination.
The disturbance began at around 3:06 AM when concerned citizens alerted the Pattaya police about a nude man behaving erratically while wandering along Pattaya Central Road in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. Responding swiftly to the report, police officers coordinated with the Pattaya City Special Services team and rushed to the scene.
Upon arrival, the authorities encountered a disturbing sight – a man, believed to be Thai and in his 30s or 40s, was strolling naked in front of a motorcycle shop near a traffic light intersection. The man’s state of undress caused significant disruption and distress among passing tourists, prompting immediate action from the officers.
Attempts were made to persuade the man to clothe himself, but he adamantly refused to comply, exhibiting signs of mental instability. The situation escalated as the authorities grappled with the delicate task of resolving the disturbance without further agitating the individual.
After a concerted effort, the officers eventually managed to convince the man to enter their vehicle, allowing them to transport him to a secure location for further assessment and assistance.
