29-6-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) A harrowing incident unfolded on Saturday morning as a tour bus carrying 21 people overturned while descending from the popular Genting Highlands resort, resulting in the tragic loss of two Chinese nationals. The Bentong Fire and Rescue Department swiftly confirmed the 11 am accident and initiated rescue operations to assist the victims.
Datuk Dr. Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Isa, the director of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, revealed that both male victims succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during the accident. “Their bodies were sent to Bentong Hospital, Pahang,” he stated in a solemn update.
Among the 21 passengers on board the ill-fated bus, including the driver, three were local residents, while the remaining 18 were Chinese nationals, comprising seven women and 11 men.
The incident’s gravity was further underscored by a 21-second video that promptly went viral, depicting the aftermath of the accident with emergency responders already on the scene, working tirelessly to aid the victims.
Genting Malaysia Berhad, in an official statement, confirmed that the bus involved in the accident was owned by a third-party operator and was transporting 18 tourists from Yunnan, China, as it descended from the Genting Highlands.
