22-6-2024 (SINGAPORE) A man found himself in an unusual and precarious situation after an accident in Eunos, according to a post on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page on Friday (June 21).
Photographs accompanying the post show the 37-year-old man stuck upside down in an uncovered drain, with his head at the bottom and his legs and lower body protruding from the top. His hands can be seen pressed against the sides of the drain, and his helmet lies nearby.
The Facebook post claimed that the man had been riding an illegally modified power-assisted bicycle (PAB) when the incident occurred.
This alleged modification drew mixed reactions from netizens, with some suggesting it could have been a “painful lesson learned” for the rider. One user commented, “That’s the price for illegal modifications. Speedy recovery. Painful lesson learned.”

However, others expressed sympathy for the man and hoped that he had not sustained any permanent injuries. “While modifying the PAB is not the right thing to do, we still don’t wish that such things happen to anyone. Hope he has no permanent injury and has a speedy recovery,” a user wrote.
Many netizens were concerned about the rider’s safety, with one commenting, “Ouch, even looking at that hurts.” Another user added, “Looking at the way he landed, hope his spine or back is okay. It’s only earning a living, life is more important.”
One netizen suggested refraining from making fun of the situation, noting that the man could be earning a living to support his family. “Let’s refrain from making fun of him. I sympathise with him and hope he recovers quickly from his injury.”
In response to queries from AsiaOne, the police provided details about the incident. It occurred on Thursday at around 3.15 pm when the rider’s PAB self-skidded along Eunos Avenue 3 towards Eunos Road 8, causing the accident.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force confirmed that the man was subsequently conveyed to Changi General Hospital in a conscious state. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
