12-6-2024 (BANGKOK) A chilling case of domestic violence has gripped Thailand, as a man stands accused of murdering his girlfriend and callously transporting her lifeless body for hours while carrying on with his daily routine, including visiting another romantic partner.
The disturbing incident unfolded last Sunday in the Khiri Khan province, where 20-year-old Anuwat ‘Nu’ Pimmat allegedly strangled his 21-year-old girlfriend, Benjarat ‘Nong Cream’ Choeijan, following a heated argument. The victim’s body remained undiscovered for five harrowing days until Friday, when authorities finally located it.
According to reports from Thairath, the tragic chain of events began when Nu flew from Bangkok to Phuket to assist Nong Cream in returning a pickup truck to her ex-boyfriend. While en route, Nu received a call from another romantic partner, prompting Nong Cream to speak loudly to assert her presence. Enraged by her actions, Nu allegedly slapped her after ending the call, leading to a physical altercation that culminated in him strangling Nong Cream to death after parking the vehicle.
In a disturbingly callous move, Nu reportedly covered Nong Cream’s lifeless body with a cloth and reclined the seat to create the illusion that she was merely resting. He then embarked on a five-hour journey, transporting the corpse while searching for a suitable place to dispose of it.
Shockingly, Nu’s macabre road trip included a stop at the health clinic of his other girlfriend, identified as Fern, where he visited her with Nong Cream’s body still present in the vehicle.
Ultimately, Nu discarded Nong Cream’s body on a patch of grass along a highway, disfiguring it with toilet cleaner in an apparent attempt to hinder identification. The police eventually identified the victim through a distinctive Winnie the Pooh tattoo and a ring she wore.
In a disturbing twist, Thai news site Channel 8 reported that Nu drove a few of his friends in the truck after disposing of the corpse, even going so far as to sell the vehicle for 100,000 baht (approximately £2,300).
The police eventually apprehended Nu on Monday after tracking his movements through CCTV footage, bringing an end to his chilling journey and setting the stage for justice to be served.
