7-6-2024 (TAIPEI) While rockstars, actors, and athletes often find themselves signing autographs in unconventional places, it’s less expected at a tech convention. However, Jensen Huang, the 61-year-old co-founder and CEO of Nvidia, experienced just that during his appearance at Computex in Taipei, Taiwan, on June 5, 2024.
Computex, one of the largest computer and technology expos globally, became the unexpected stage for a peculiar encounter when a woman approached Huang, requesting his autograph on her right chest. Despite initial hesitation and seeking advice from someone off-camera, Huang eventually obliged, as captured in a video posted on Threads by user Chen. Another user, Chinlun319, shared a photo of the signing, capturing the bemused and slightly disapproving expressions of the onlookers in the background.
Nvidia, renowned for its graphics processing units (GPUs), has seen an exponential rise in its value, surpassing tech giants Alphabet and Amazon as of February 2024. This surge is attributed to the AI boom, heavily reliant on Nvidia chips. Huang’s personal net worth, closely tied to Nvidia’s fortunes, stands at approximately $100 billion (S$135 billion).
Most of Nvidia’s high-end chip production occurs in Taiwan, explaining Huang’s presence at the tech convention. Born in Taiwan, Huang has always been a prominent and vocal figure in the tech industry, often seen in his signature cool, dark leather jackets. He has been a fervent advocate for AI technology, with Nvidia ambitiously building an AI supercomputer named Eos.
