4-6-2024 (SINGAPORE) In a startling incident at Changi Airport’s Terminal 4, a woman sustained a bleeding head wound after an unfortunate mishap on the terminal’s iconic winding slide. The slide, which leads to the Chandelier – a five-storey playground and art sculpture – was the scene of an unexpected turn of events that left traveler Koey Har in need of immediate medical attention.
On Sunday (2 June), Ms. Har took to Instagram to share a vlog documenting the harrowing experience. As she descended the slide, capturing the exhilarating moment on camera, a sudden impact sent her sandals flying off her feet, accompanied by a loud thud. In-clip captions revealed that the incident occurred at 3.10 pm, mere moments before her scheduled flight departure at 3.40 pm.
“There’s no time at all to go to the clinic,” Ms. Har wrote, acknowledging the urgency of the situation. “I can only rush to the pharmacy to buy medication.”

Fortunately, the airline crew swiftly came to Ms. Har’s aid, providing her with the necessary medical attention. As she boarded the aircraft, a flight attendant promptly called her manager to explain the situation, stating that Ms. Har had fallen while “playing the slide” and required assistance in dressing and cleaning her wound.
With empathy and professionalism, the crew member proceeded to treat Ms. Har’s injury. Saline and antiseptic solutions were retrieved, and the attendant gently asked if Ms. Har could “tahan,” or tolerate, the pain. “I think I will cry,” Ms. Har replied, bracing herself for the inevitable discomfort.
Carefully, the crew member dabbed cotton balls on the wound, offering apologies for any pain caused during the meticulous process. A liquid plaster was applied as the final step, providing a protective barrier for the injury.
Reflecting on the incident, Ms. Har shared a valuable lesson: “It’s okay to have fun, but be careful about safety.”
A spokesperson from Changi Airport expressed regret over Ms. Har’s experience and extended an apology. The spokesperson highlighted that safety guidelines, including instructions on proper sliding position, reminders to wear covered shoes, and emergency contact numbers, are prominently displayed at the slide’s entrance.
“We wish the passenger a fast recovery and hope to see her again soon at Changi Airport,” the spokesperson added, underscoring the airport’s commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
