31-5-2024 (KUALA LUMPUR) In recent weeks, a viral trend has taken the K-pop world by storm, with idols such as IU and SHINee’s Minho participating in the heart eyebrow challenge. The trend involves putting one’s fingers on their eyebrows and lowering them down to form a heart shape, accompanied by a recognizable accent in the audio. However, contrary to popular belief, the TikToker behind the viral audio is not from Singapore but is, in fact, Malaysian.
After being misidentified as a Singaporean by local publications and commenters, the TikToker known as @ummmyuhasdf uploaded a video on Thursday (May 30), humorously revealing his Malaysian passport and addressing the confusion. In the video, he jokes, “Awkward… You could have asked me before this, okay,” while clutching his passport.
Responding to a comment that said, “They say don’t judge the book by its cover,” @ummmyuhasdf quipped, “But please do judge the passport by its cover.”

@ummmyuhasdf’s original video, which sparked the heart eyebrow trend, has been viewed over 17 million times on TikTok. The audio has since been used by multiple K-pop celebrities, including Nina from NiziU and Riku from NCT Wish, further fueling the trend’s popularity.
While the TikToker’s accent may have led some to assume he was Singaporean, @ummmyuhasdf has embraced his Malaysian identity and used the opportunity to clarify his roots. His lighthearted response has been met with amusement and appreciation from fans who now understand the true origins of the viral audio.
