26-5-2024 (MANILA) The onslaught of Tropical Storm Aghon brought about a series of disruptions to air travel in the Philippines, as several flights were cancelled early Sunday morning (May 26) due to the inclement weather conditions. The announcement came from the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), which cited the adverse effects of the storm as the primary cause for the flight cancellations.
According to the latest cyclone update from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Tropical Storm Aghon is currently moving towards the municipality of Sariaya in Quezon province, advancing at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour (kph). The storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph), with gustiness reaching up to a formidable 125 kph.
In response to the strong winds brought about by Aghon, PAGASA has issued wind signals across various areas of Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the Philippine archipelago.
