25-5-2024 (QUEZON CITY) Shock and condemnation have swept through the ranks of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) following the brazen killing of Mercedita Gutierrez, the chief of the agency’s central office Registration Section, in what officials have described as a cowardly ambush.
The tragic incident unfolded on the evening of Friday, May 26th, when Gutierrez fell victim to a deadly gun attack in the heart of Quezon City. The chilling news has sparked outrage within the LTO and prompted calls for swift justice.
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II was unequivocal in his condemnation of the heinous act, vowing to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of the perpetrators. “This is a cowardly act, and we assure her family and the public of our untiring efforts to coordinate with the Philippine National Police and closely monitor the investigation of this incident to bring all perpetrators of this crime behind bars,” Mendoza stated resolutely.
