25-5-2024 (BERN) After nearly a month of frantic searching, Thai authorities have announced that a 32-year-old Thai woman reported missing during a trip to Switzerland with her American boyfriend has been found safe and reunited with her family.
Nantiwa “Noon” Saejiw, travelling on a Swedish passport, had embarked on the European sojourn with her partner in early April. However, her relatives back home lost contact with her on 27th April, prompting grave concerns for her wellbeing.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Bern swiftly sprang into action after being notified by Ms Saejiw’s anxious family in early May, issuing a public appeal on its Facebook page in hopes of gathering information on her whereabouts.
Their efforts finally bore fruit on Friday evening when the embassy joyfully announced, “Noon’s family has been notified by Swiss police that she and her companion have been located.”
According to the update, the couple had inexplicably left Switzerland during the extensive search operation. Following their discovery, Thai officials stated they would refrain from further public statements on the sensitive matter out of respect for those involved. Nonetheless, they extended gratitude to all who had aided in the weeks-long hunt.
While Ms Saejiw and her boyfriend are understood to be in good health, scant details have been disclosed regarding the circumstances surrounding their puzzling disappearance and subsequent resurfacing.
The case had garnered significant attention in Thailand, with Ms Saejiw’s distraught family pleading for any leads that could help locate the young woman after she abruptly cut off communication during what was supposed to be a dream European vacation.
The Thai embassy’s announcement has provided a profound sense of relief, bringing the distressing episode to a close, though lingering questions may persist about what precisely transpired during the couple’s perplexing lack of contact.
